Out of the Ordinary

In the U.S., most businesses and institutions are closed on Christmas Day.  Everyone spends the day in different ways, and for the majority of people it’s a change from the ordinary.

Sometimes by pausing our regular schedule, it’s easier to notice how well (or how unwell) our ordinary routine is working.

Think about last Wednesday:

  • Did you wake up rested and invigorated?
  • Were you eager to face the day’s tasks?
  • When things got hard, did you mostly feel motivated, or frustrated?
  • How much of the day did you feel energized? inspired? wondrous? nervous? frustrated? irritated? resentful?
  • How much of the day did you wish you were somewhere else?
  • How much of the day did you experience being in charge?

Overall, how well is your regular routine working for you?

If the answer is “so-so”, perhaps today is a good time to reflect on what’s working, what’s not, and how good it might feel if you could change it.

Next week we’ll talk about what you can do about it.

It is nearly a certainty that you are more powerful and resourceful than you realize.

Happy Holidays.
