Does It Belong On The Calendar?

Last week I received an email from a friend saying “fyi, here’s an upcoming service event, we’ll be doing clean-up at the XYZ park…”

But the email body only had a description and a link. It was missing the date.

My first thought was…how am I supposed to know if this fits into the rest of my schedule?

But then I spotted an error with my thinking.

I realized: won’t I end up more satisfied and successful in life if my first question asks “is this how I want to spend my time?” instead of starting with “will it fit my schedule?”.

Because if it’s really a place I want to spend time, terrific – I can probably rearrange my schedule to make it work.

But if it’s not, then it’s silly to spend time worrying about whether it will fit.

It’s easy to get fixated on trying to compress everything onto the calendar, instead of consistently asking “does this belong on my calendar at all?”.

What are the things you squeeze into your schedule, that maybe don’t belong there?  Reply back and let me know.
